UIA Head Calls for Reforms to Expand the Taxpayer Base in Argentina

Buenos Aires, November 16 (NA) – The president of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Martín Rappallini, renewed the call to advance with reforms that promote formalization and expand the universe of taxpayers in the country. In an interview with the 'Mercuriali630' program on Radio Rivadavia, the head of the industrial entity focused on the low number of taxpayers that sustain the national tax structure. In this regard, he stated that 'today we have a problem, where only 1,000 CUITs (tax identification numbers) represent 50% of tax collection and 10,000 CUITs are 75%'. He emphasized that the main objective for the coming years must be 'to broaden the base of the pyramid'. In this context, Rappallini urged the search for mechanisms that allow more actors to join the payment of taxes, referring to the need to work with the monotributist and registered taxpayer regimes, in line with what the administration of Javier Milei is analyzing. On this point, he specified that 'evidently, we have to find some path with the monotributists, also with the registered taxpayers and see how to create a stepping stone so that more companies join the payment of taxes and are not in the informal sector'. Social Support for the Government On the other hand, the leader of the UIA referred to the political context after the elections, highlighting the backing that President Milei obtained at the polls, acknowledging that 'I think that everyone is in a totally different position than before the elections'. In line with this, he stated that 'there has been a ratification by a large majority of society in the government of Milei and his policies', indicating that the president 'is not hiding what he wants to do, but says it clearly and has had very important support from society'.
